Elvis Presley was a great singer, he electrified his audience during concerts. He could act, looked great and had a greater impact on music and popular culture than any other performer in history.
But he wasn't a songwriter.
His name is mentioned now and then on songs like Love Me Tender or All Shook Up, but in fact it had more to do with business agreements than writing songs or writing lyrics. Love Me Tender was already written in 1861 by W.W. Fosdick and George Puolton they named the song Aura Lee.
Heartbreak Hotel was according to the label written by Mae Axton, Tommy Durden and Elvis Presley. But it isn't true if you listen to Roy Brown's Dreaming Blues.
