He’s been called the “Spirit and Soul of Kansas City” by the Kansas City Star and has played a significant role in the effort to define Kansas City’s cultural identity.
Over the past decade, Kemet has garnered a reputation as a one-of-a-kind musician, entrepreneur and creative director focusing on real estate development projects that affect communities of color. Coleman's entrepreneurial approach to artistry has opened the door for Kansas City/Missouri's first black-owned brewery located in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, Vine Street Brewing Co. and Troostival, a festival that celebrates the diversity of Black music.
He is the lead vocalist of the psychedelic soul band, The Phantastics and one of the founding members of the 18-piece ensemble, Brass & Boujee -- the first-of-its-kind mashup of Rap and Big Band. Brass & Boujee’s debut release charted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts and #11 on the Billboard Jazz Charts and continues to grow in popularity nationwide.
