There's a new trailer out for Battle Suit Aces, one of the games I'm writing music for! Trailer music here is by me as well! Enjoy our card battling space mech adventure visual novel whilst being blasted by trombones playing descending Bb and Ab diminished arpeggios 🤘
If anyone's interested in behind-the-scenes vlog-style content from me regarding my composing endeavors, I just made this vlog on my second channel on a whim to showcase a technical solution for loading RAM-hungry sample libraries on an external computer. I might post more on there in the future, who knows, so consider subscribing if you want updates like this video!
Incredibly excited to announce that I'm playing with the 8 Bit Big Band as a featured guest at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on August 31st! I grew up in the Seattle area, so playing video game music on stage at Benaroya is going to be a huge full circle moment - SO EXCITED!
This show is on Saturday night of PAX West weekend, and Benaroya Hall is walking distance from the convention center, so if you'll be in town for PAX, you'll be super close to this show!
Today is my 10 year anniversary of owning my Selmer black lacquer tenor saxophone! (The first video I made using it was posted about a week later!) My dad bought this instrument for me when I was in high school, and I still love it to this day. It's been in countless videos, and remained steadfast at my side as my life has evolved. Here's to many more years together 🎷❤️
I'll be PERFORMING at PAX East in Boston MA this Friday! @VideriStringQuartet@megaran@DomPalombiMusic and I are all combining forces to put on a concert celebrating PAX East's 20th anniversary! Friday March 22nd 8:30 PM PAX Main Stage - if you're going to PAX, you won't want to miss it!
I participated in a super fun video game music trivia challenge hosted by @TarvouldsQuest, competing against @ToxicxEternity and @Vector_U! Always so much fun to get to test my knowledge of video game music :D
Hey folks! Wanted to gather your opinion on something I've been thinking about. Over the years I've accumulated a lot of instruments in my studio that I use in my music-making. However, some of the instruments that I have here are made obsolete by others - for example, I have a student-grade Jean Paul alto saxophone that I no longer use, since I've upgraded to a professional Selmer that sounds better and I prefer more.
I'd like these instruments that I no longer have any use for to go to new homes! Also keeping in mind that investing in new instruments is not cheap, I'm considering hosting an auction to sell these instruments, get them to new homes, and also raise funds for other instrument upgrades that I'm looking to invest in. All the instruments in question have been used in my videos in the past, some in just a few, but some in very many.
My question to you is: Would you have any interest in purchasing any of my previous instruments? I know many of you are here just to listen to the music (and that's 100% fine, thank you so much!) but I'm curious if any you here would be interested in potentially buying some of my previously-owned instruments. Is there anything else you'd like to see if I were to host an auction like this? Let me know, I'm curious to get your feedback! Thanks all :)
It's that time of the year again! Here are all the events I'll be participating in at this year's MAGFest in Washington DC, starting next Thursday Jan 18th, and running through Sunday Jan 21st! Hope to see you there!
All performances will likely be streamed or recorded. We'll try to get a recording of the VGM Randomizer panel (no promises there), and the Meet & Greet at the Breeze in the Clouds booth will not be recorded. Check out the MAGFest Twitch channels for streams!
I'm giving a presentation next Wed December 13th at 7 PM over in the Asian Game Audio Network Discord server called "Learning from the Music You Love"! I feel like I haven't nerded out about music in a masterclass/panel format enough lately, so hopefully this panel will fix that!
I think one of the best ways to learn about music, if not the best way, is to find music that you love to listen to, and dive into it and figure out how that music works. What makes it tick, and what makes it so that you like it so much? By learning this way, you can "steal like an artist" and incorporate these things into your own music. I'll be showing you my process of doing that, and also doing this live with some audience-submitted example tracks.
Anyone is welcome to attend the presentation, and it's completely free. All you have to do is join the AGAN Discord server (link is in the comments!) and tune in when the time comes! I highly recommend joining the server if you identify with the Asian Game Audio community, but if not, you're still welcome to join and attend the panel! We'll also have a Q&A session afterwards. Looking forward to it!
Had the pleasure of remote recording a tenor sax feature over @JoeyStempien‘s big band composition “Rampart House”! Awesome modern big band Maria Schneider vibes in this one!
