Niagara Frontier Chapter - NRHS

The Niagara Frontier Chapter - NRHS is one of the oldest railroad history organizations in the country, tracing its founding to back to 1938.

From an original group of about 16 railfans that met weekly in 1938, to a year later being affiliated as the Buffalo Division of the Railroad Enthusiasts, the Chapter we know today grew into one of the largest in the country. In 1942, the group changed affiliation to the then new National Railway Historical Society, becoming the Buffalo Chapter, #17 in the nation.

Since that time, the Chapter, a non-profit organization, has dedicated itself to the preservation and education of railroad history in Western New York State, the Province of Ontario, and neighboring regions.

To better reflect our mission, the Chapter's name was changed in 1988 to the Niagara Frontier Chapter - NRHS, Inc. On June 1, 2003 the long anticipated opening of our Railroad Museum of the Niagara Frontier, in North Tonawanda, NY was celebrated!
