Eerf Evil is more than just a rapper; he’s an activist and social commentator. In his own words, “My music breaks down social contexts - class, race, gentrification, youth violence.” Eerf grew up in a difficult estate in Croydon in an environment typified by violence and crime. At the still young age of 24, Jayden has managed to turn his life around, using his music to address serious social issues affecting young people in environments similar to the one he was raised. He’s also involved in some incredibly admirable charity work. He mentors 18 - 21 year olds and who have grown up in similar circumstances, encouraging them to look beyond their immediate surroundings, and pursue a life of adventure and experience that society may have taught them is beyond their reach; an ethos that carries into his music. That philosophy is also the inspiration behind his stage name ‘Eerf Evil’ (Live Free spelt backwards).
