HighTideHomestead

Hi, we're the Sarvela's. In 2016 we purchased raw land an hour from the road, rented out our house, and gave notice at our jobs. We've lived every kind of way out here in the years since we moved, from sleeping on the ground next to a fire (yes, while Katie was pregnant!), in a tent, a tiny 250 sq ft dry cabin with an outdoor shower and wood stove cooking, to finally purchasing a mini fridge and propane oven in 550ish sq ft space when our youngest, Inara, came along. We've gardened and had chickens, rabbits, goats and pigs, heated with wood, hauled our own water, and run off of solar or a generator for power.

In 2022 we packed up to move the homestead further off the road, because the road started coming to us! The new homestead has a 3 story A-frame cabin built in the 1930's that we are rehabbing to live in full time, with gorgeous views of the Cook Inlet and Fire Island.

Thank you for following our adventures!
