Daniel Kelly Folk Music
I am a songwriter, poet, ballad collector and filker from Yass in Australia. This channel includes my recordings of traditional folk songs, my own songs and parodies and some regular pop music covers. I play live in the Yass Valley region semi-regularly and also at regional music festivals and events.
My main musical influences are from the Celtic tradition, the likes of Luke Kelly of the Dubliners, Alistair Hulett and The Corries. I also have an interest in topical songs and protest music of Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs and Pete Seeger.
I enjoy taking ballads from older texts, such as the Francis Child collection and setting them to new music. I also play a few pagan inspired songs on my hand-made Anglo-Saxon lyre.
This channel is mostly for rough recordings, but I have over 30 albums of properly recorded music available on most streaming platforms under 'Daniel Kelly' or from Bandcamp.
