Kenny Smith was an above average player who became a great broadcaster. He is most known for his hilarious and enthusiastic calls in the NBA slam dunk competitions over the past 20 years. Many people don't know that Kenny participated in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest on 3 different occasions. As a participant Kenny did not show nearly the amount of emotion and enthusiasm that he now shows as a broadcaster. I often wondered if Kenny was able to bottle up some of that enthusiasm and give it to himself 30 years ago, he may have come away the winner of the 1990 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. If you look back on that competition a little more emotion may have gotten him the victory, in any case he did come away 2nd and just a few points behind the 2-time champion Dominique Wilkins.
