Once upon a time, there lived a philosopher who was said to have an answer to any question. One day, someone decided to test the philosopher's wisdom. The man devised a cunning plan:

"I will take a butterfly in my hand, close my fist around it, and ask the philosopher whether the butterfly is alive or dead. If he says it is dead, I will release the butterfly, and it will fly away, proving him wrong. If he says it is alive, I will crush it in my fist, and the butterfly will die. Either way, the philosopher will be mistaken."

With this plan in mind, the man caught a butterfly, clenched it in his hand, and went to the philosopher. He asked:

— What do I hold in my fist, a dead butterfly or a living one?

The philosopher looked at him, squinted slightly, and, with a knowing smile, replied:

— It is all in your hands.

---

Our lives, our futures, and the impact we have on the world are, most of the time, ultimately "in our hands."

I would not have immigrated three times in my life if I hadn't taken my life, my future, and the impact I want to have on the world into my own hands.

I think the philosopher's response also offers a profound commentary on wisdom itself. True wisdom does not primarily lie in predicting outcomes, although a wise person is much better at predicting outcomes since they can see patterns others can't. I think it mainly lies in guiding others to confront their own responsibility and the power they wield in shaping their future and the world around them.

This is also what I focus on when guiding clients. Helping them see the patterns in their lives, uncover the hidden opportunities, and take control of their choices so they can create the future they truly desire. Because, in the end, the power to transform is always "in their hands."

Only after publishing this video did I notice that the duration of the video was 11:11. If you are a spiritual person, you likely know the significance of this number: "alignment with divine purpose."

A great way to improve your productivity throughout the day, if you are struggling with attention deficit disorder or just struggling to be productive, is to try using a combination of the Pomodoro technique with rewarding yourself.

The Pomodoro technique is basically setting your alarm for 25 minutes. You work for 25 minutes, then take a break. After that, reward yourself with something you really want to do, something you really enjoy. Maybe there’s a book you love reading, read it for seven minutes, then go back to another 25-minute interval of working.

Try it! It works like magic for me, and I hope it works for you too.

There is a thought that gives me the energy to be more disciplined.

I hope it can help you too.

Here it is:

"You need integrity between what you want to achieve 10 years from now and what are your actions today."

It's easy to dream about where I want to be 10 years from now, but it's another thing to ensure that my actions today are leading me there.

So, I started asking myself, "If I repeated my actions today every day for the next 10 years, would they lead me to that vision?"

If I was in a movie Click, and my life went on fast forward, would I achieve the goals I set?

It's a tough question, but it's necessary. And it requires daily discipline.

Am I really aligning today’s activities with that big vision?

If not, what do I need to change?

The good news is that outsized results do not require us to be aligned 100% of the time. If most choices I make today, tomorrow, later this week, are aligned with my goals, I am much more likely to achieve those goals.

So ask yourself:

Are you living your life today in a way that is aligned with accomplishing your goals?

Let me know in the comments if you feel the power of this question.

There are two kinds of people in life.

Some just go with the flow, taking the easy path based on where they were born, their talents, their circumstances.

Then there’s the second type. The ones who forge their own path, no matter where they came from or what challenges they’ve faced, whether it's difficult childhoods, abuse, or any kind of adversity.

What does it take to be that second person, to break free from your orbit, again and again?

Discipline and focus.

That’s it. With those two, you can learn any skill, stay persistent, and keep pushing until you see the changes you want.

One more key?

Win-win relationships.

When you seek to build real partnerships that benefit both sides, people want to work with you. Trust grows. And that’s where long-term success really begins.

Talent alone isn’t enough. To lead, inspire, and influence, we need a message that resonates. Something real, personal, and rooted in conviction.

The audience we serve (clients, teams, stakeholders) craves authenticity, not noise.

The question to keep in mind is: What do you have to say that matters?

And the key is not to wait for perfection. Speak up, adapt, and refine.

And remember that your voice has power, but only if you use it.

How to Start Your Day with More Energy

As a busy entrepreneur or business professional, maintaining peak energy levels is crucial to facing the demands of your day. Here’s a simple practice that I’ve found incredibly effective in maintaining a higher level of energy and long-term health. Of course, check with your doctor if this makes sense in your particular situation.

Every morning (with few exceptions), I begin with two glasses of warm water infused with freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice. It’s a small habit with substantial benefits.

Why warm water with lemon? Here are the key advantages:

Detoxification: It helps flush out toxins, setting the stage for a cleaner, more efficient system.

Appetite Stabilization: It can balance appetite.

Energy Boost: The combination of hydration and lemon gives a natural energy lift.

Cell Protection: Antioxidants in lemon protect cells, which is crucial for overall health.

Skin Clarity: It promotes clearer skin.

Kidney Health: It even helps with breaking down kidney stones.

The process is simple: I use one-quarter of a lemon in a cup of warm water, and then I have a second cup with another quarter of a lemon. And I try not to eat during the first 2 hours of the day and just drink these 2 cups.

When I know I will not have time in the morning to squeeze lemon or lime, I try to squeeze it the day before and leave it in the refrigerator. As I write this, I have 2 cups in the refrigerator, one with lemon juice and another with lime juice. This way, I make it nearly impossible for myself to fail in maintaining this habit.

It’s these small, consistent practices that add up to significant improvements in energy and health. I’m not a fan of drama. I want my content to be joyful, impactful, and valuable. I never want to be hurtful to anyone.

People can be really mean. Sure, you can develop thick skin, but when someone throws dirt in your face, you still need to wash it off.

Nobody wants to read nasty things about themselves. But those comments usually say more about the person who wrote them than about you.

Recently, I got an email from someone who said they’ve been listening to our Strategy Skills podcast for years, and found it very valuable. But instead of thanking us for the materials we were providing for years at no cost, this person was upset about receiving an automatic email confirming their free subscription to our newsletter.

So, someone benefits from years of free content we’re providing, and the first time they reach out, it’s to criticize us over a routine email?

In situations like this, I prefer just to ignore it. Life is too short to waste time explaining basic things to people who don't mean well. It’s better to handle these situations with grace: delete such users from your community and keep moving forward.

Visiting a car museum in LA was an eye-opener for me. Walking through the exhibits, I was in awe of the beauty and craftsmanship of the old cars on display.

It got me thinking: are we really improving with all our advancements in car design? And if this is going on with car design, this must be a broader issue.

Yes, R&D has pushed us forward in many ways, but has it always led to improvement? The sleek lines, intricate details, and sheer artistry of those classic cars made me question if we're losing something in our relentless pursuit of progress.

What do you think—are we truly advancing, or are we just changing?
