I have been taking lots of time to do small holiday projects this past week and it got to a point where the mess of it all had really taken over! So came the Christmas clean-up!
I actually do enjoy the process of tidying my room, even if it seems overwhelming at first. It's almost like a big scramble of puzzle pieces that each have a spot, they just need to be put in it! I would love it if snapping my fingers = clean though :)
Work was having a holiday desk/office decorating contest and well, how many opportunities does one get to transform their office into a gingerbread house??
After measuring, measuring some more, and measuring once again (I was worried I measured wrong), I got out my Kraft construction paper and got to work! I used some paper recycling to make the dripping icing/snow and the candy canes. I used acrylic paint for all the colour and the icing details I painted on! Everything was hand drawn, cut or painted. :)
When it came to deciding what candy to include, I had to go with some traditional gingerbread house ones; peppermints, candy balls (do they have a proper name?) and sugared gum drops! This was definitely one of my bigger projects, and one of the only times Benn has said my craft room felt small! Putting it up was a feat but I am not sure I will ever want to take it down??

I will always always always encourage people to try their hand at sewing, it's such a valuable skill! If you haven't had a chance to learn to sew yet, ask a family member or a friend to help! (Yes, that includes me!) Also, the internet can obviously be a fantastic tool for learning!
PS if you're actually wondering why in the world I cut this skirt from the waistband down instead of the hem up - it also needed adjusting in the waist and a new elastic. You know, work smarter not harder!

I sketched out this folky Santa on some scrap plywood, which Benn helped me cut out. After painting, I glued down some clothespins and decorated tiny paper bags to hold the chocolate. And voila!

We had some scrap foam leftover from when we cut my couch cushions and since then we have had it pieced together and covered in a towel for Ren to sleep on in my craft room. I always had the intention of fixing it up nice for her, I just took a while to get around to it!

The ‘Boo Baskets’ have been making the rounds on the net again this year, and I NEEDED one. It can be so sweet to get some new cozy items, but in my case, I just didn’t need a bunch of new things! So I gathered up some of my coziest fall-coloured items instead 😋
My cauldron was too perfect not to use! I packed in my “Pooh Bear” blanket, some goodies including a little hot chocolate mix and one of my favourite mugs (which perfectly has a pumpkin on it), a pair of cozy socks, and my pumpkin man drawing inside a frame I just thrifted! The ONE thing I had to buy myself was a new book, which I can’t wait to crack into!

New skill unlocked!
Weaving is an art I have long wanted to try and since we seemed to be missing one piece of art on a very specific wall in our bathroom, I thought HEY! This is a perfect opportunity to try weaving for the first time.
